What can I say? Once again we had a fantastic time at Llangollen. We’d been checking on the weather in class and it looked like we would have a clear few days. The forecast held up and the sun shone but actually it was the children who shone the most – they listened carefully to the instructors, enjoyed their activities, tried very hard to keep their rooms tidy and had a great time. I’ll let them tell you about it from their diaries.

Wednesday
Leaving our parents was really hard for all of us but we finally gave in. On the way there were sheep all the way from England to Wales!
We arrived at the Youth Hostel and met one of the workers. As soon as we met everybody we were off on the 7-mile walk. We all thought, “Oh this will be easy.” Oh no, we were wrong! The hill we had to climb took about 2 hours to climb and the walk itself took about 6 hours. We finally got back to the youth hostel- we were so tired that we couldn’t move so we went in to the dining room and had our tea. We sorted ourselves into groups, went into our bedrooms and made our beds got our pj’s and went back into the class room for chocolate, milk and a sing song. Then we went to bed.
Thursday
Today we had three activities. We had BMXing, Rock climbing (abseiling) and Archery.
BMX bikes was extremely hard - I fell off twice. We played two games. We had a time trial and when we finished that we went on a proper track On my 2nd time I fell off on the gravel! I extremely enjoyed rock climbing because I was the first person to abseil down the 40ft tall tower. When we were doing archery, we were playing a game where we had to hit white then black, then blue, then red and finally yellow and then we just had to hit any colour and we won both rounds. After a long day we went back to the youth hostel to have a BBQ - we had hamburgers, hot dogs and for dessert we had a choice between jammy doughnuts and chocolate brownies. The night walk was extremely tiring. I was the first person in the line and once we were high enough, we could see the Youth Hostel. Once we got back we had hot chocolate and a sing song and then we went to bed.
Friday
When we got up next morning we went to the classroom and got told what to do. Then we went got dressed, packed and went down stairs to the court yard. Then we played the Minefield and the Mattress game. Our group were the 1st ones to play the Mattress game it was extremely hard - the first person had to fold the mattress and stand on the part that they had folded and unfold it again and then the other player would get on and our high score was 8. And the Minefield was even harder because it took us about 10 goes to find out the route - 10 goes!!!
In the afternoon we played the Egg Launch. The Egg Launch was hard because we had to make our own rocket and make a place for the egg to sit in and then launch them. I nearly got hit by Adam’s rocket. Sadly, we came 2nd to last.
Home again, we came back to the court yard, said our thanks to the people who helped us. We waited for the coach, gave our bags to the driver and went home waving to everyone that helped us. Suddenly, we were on the road and to our surprise we were home in about an hour.
