Overnight Visits |
One of our aims is to develop the independence, social skills and ability to work within a team for our children. Our programme of overnight educational visits certainly enhances these aims. Our children have the opportunity to stay away from home with their peers from Year 2.
In this year we take them away to Beeston Education Centre in Cheshire for two days and one night. The children set off very excited and experience activities such as a good walk, approximately three miles. On this walk we break for team building in the form of building dens in the woods. Much hard work, fun and team spirit is created in this activity. Once the walk is completed the evening comprises of games on the field. The second day we trek up Beeston Castle following a treasure hunt, as we explore this ancient relic!
In Year 4 we venture further staying for three days and two nights at Llangollen Youth Hostel. Stamina is challenged with a seven mile walk on the first day, canoeing on the canal, archery and ascending the climbing wall in the centre. These activities are complimented with team building problem solving challenges.
By Year 6, our children are seasoned travellers aspiring to the adventurous activities of the Wirral outdoor education centre – Oaklands. Here they experience climbing a rock face, abseiling down, canoeing on a lake or the River Conway, gorge walking, caving, hill walking and very challenging problem solving activities! They return exhilarated, exhausted and very proud of their achievements! |
